FotoFacial

FotoFacial is a series of intense pulsed light treatments that dramatically reduce or erase:

  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Spider veins
  • Irregular pigmentation
  • Sun Damage
  • Redness, flushing and Rosacea

We can treat the face, neck, chest, forearms, legs and/or hands. A FotoFacial is quick, safe, and effective with minimal downtime. You can resume normal activities immediately.

How does it work?

An intense light is applied in a series of pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light is absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels or pigmentation. The heat causes damage to the vessel or lesion causing the lesion to darken before it is flaked off the surface of the skin. FotoFacial treatments can be given as frequently as every three weeks.

What improvements will I see?

Fotofacial patients have a high degree of satisfaction with their results. Expect to see a decrease in irregular pigmentation, rednesss, broken capillaries, and flushing. After each treatment, the skin will feel smoother and appear to have a more even tone.

How many treatments will I need?

Usually a series of five Fotofacial treatments is recommended. Yearly follow-up treatments help maintain results.

What is a treatment like?

Treatments vary from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. When the pulse of light is delivered, the sensation is similar to a snap of a rubber band. Dermacare uses several modalities to dramatically lessen the sensation. Pain is minimal; however, for sensitive skin, a cool compress is applied following treatment. We recommend sunscreen post treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Fotofacial side effects are rare. Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear flushed; brown pigmented spots may appear darker; and capillaries may be more visible. In rare instances, temporary swelling and/or blistering can occur.
